Loch Ness - a short walk from Dores Beach, along the lake to Aldourie Castle and back through the forest. It is an easy, enjoyable walk, but unfortunately also quite monotonous. The highlight is the huge, impressive Aldourie Castle - a typical Scottish manor house that has been classified as a property in the highest monument category since 2003. Its sight is fascinating.
In 1933, the legend arose that a monster lived in Loch Ness. Apparently, resourceful tourism managers continually re-enacted this story, making the area world famous. Urquhart Castle has certainly benefited from this, as it probably wouldn't have had so many visitors otherwise. The short hike along Loch Ness was very relaxing and there were hardly any people around. The weather was great again after a very short and light rain.
