Serpentine Trail on Krausberg

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The narrow forest path leads from Krausberg to the Ahr valley - or vice versa. You hike mostly under the trees, but wonderful views open up again and again.

Krausberg Tower

Highlight • Monument

The view from the tower is fantastic. If you are coming from Dernau or Walporzheim, the descent to Rech is recommended. From there the train runs every hour back to the starting point.

Very beautiful landscape, but unfortunately the descent from Steinthalskopf is very steep on a mountain bike trail. Circular route not possible, hiking trail closed from Katzley

A very beautiful hike with quite a bit of elevation gain. Right from the start, the trail climbs to Krausberg. By the time you reach the top, you'll already be quite sweaty. There's a nice hermitage for a break, as well as picnic areas and a playground. The Ahrsteig continues along a great mountain path with beautiful views. Afterward, it …

We went hiking in the Ahr Valley today for a private appointment.

After more than 3 years, the damage and the tragedy are still visible.
This region is recovering quite well, but it is still a long way from normality.
Unfortunately, it is frightening.

Tour copied from Komoot, but in the opposite direction, because the climb to Katzley was already a slippery, steep affair on the way up. The path up to Steinthalskopf was converted into an MTB downhill trail with all the chicanes. Thank God I was through when the first people leaned down - who then cycled back up a little later …

Today we decided on the wooded side, which you can also walk in warmer temperatures. Up to the Krausberg tower with a wonderful view (the Krausberghütte is unfortunately still closed), on to the Alfred Dahm tower surrounded by forest and finally to the Steinhalskopf tower, which urgently needs renovation (access currently prohibited)! Finally, a highlight on the beautiful mountain path …

A truly beautiful tour. Guys, the Ahrtahl valley is fantastic! Go there! Fantastic trails, wonderful views, and not too crowded. Only the descent wasn't so thrilling, as we were "following" a previous tour. After the Steinthalkopf, the trail was too steep. It's absolutely not recommended, even for very experienced hikers. It's better to replan your route from the Steinthalkopf.
