Lochranza Castle and Arran Distillery

With a population of only 200, wildlife flourishes on the island. Around Lochranza castle you are likely to spot red deer and on the north shore there are grey seals year round. Otters and golden eagles are also regularly seen in the area.
The Arran distillery is based in Lochranza, producing Arran Single Malt. Along with tourism the distillery is one of the main industries on the island. At the Lochranza hotel there is said to be one of the largest collections of Scotch Whiskey in the country, with more than 350 different drams to try! Lochranza castle is a beautiful ruin of a 16th century castle with an interesting history. In 1614 it was taken over by the king and used by Oliver Cromwell!
