Evangelical Church in Lahde

Highlight • Religious Site

Opposite the Protestant church of Lahde, a neo-Gothic building from 1894, you will find the "Meierhöfe Lahde" - founded in 1471 by the monastery Loccum. The name Meier is originally a professional title, which dates back to the time of the early churches and monasteries before the year 1000. As the population grew, a so-called "meyer" was set up in each village, a fronhof charged with collecting taxes. It is probable that the three Meier farms have remained in the same family since their foundation in 1471. At Court No. 1, the professional name "Meyer" also became a surname. In the other two farms, the right surnames have prevailed over time.

Interesting water and windmill in one. Behind it is a beautiful monastery church and the five Meierhöfe with typical half-timbered houses.

Lahder Marsch Lakes

Highlight • Lake

I always enjoy driving along the path along the edge of the Lahder Marsch. On one side of the path constantly changing views of the lake landscape and a number of inviting benches for a photo break, on the other side of the path the view of the tree-shaded valley of the Bückeburger Aue together with the two largely "hidden" historic watermills "Talmühle" and "Rothe Mühle" ( better visible in the winter months when the trees are bare). I love this silent way, which fortunately few people know. One of my favorite routes for almost 20 years!
