View of Lyme Regis and Lyme Bay from Stonebarrow Hill

Highlight • Viewpoint

The views across Lyme Bay towards the beautiful town of Lyme Regis are simply exceptional. In clear weather, you can see for miles around the coastline.

The erosion along this section of the coast is evident and the slumped cliffs have been blanketed in scrub plants, adding to the wonder.

Golden Cap Summit

Highlight (Segment) • Natural Monument

This famous landmark rises to 191m or 627 feet, making it the highest point on the south coast of England. The climb to the top is a challenge, but the reward is worth it. Waiting to greet you on the tranquil summit are panoramic views in all directions, from Portland to the east to Dartmoor in the west.
Golden Cap is flanked by meadows, streams and woodland, all part of a National Trust estate that is well worth exploring. For those who want to experience every single metre of the climb, you can start at sea level at Seatown and follow the path all the way up. The Anchor Inn at Seatown is the perfect place to refuel, with delicious food and local ale.
