Highlight • Settlement

The small town of Kaiserstuhl has done a lot for its cityscape.

Kaiserstuhl Castle and Bridge

Highlight • Castle

Pretty nice, if you on the German side in right away from the castle, down along the Rhine would continue, comes the outdoor pool and the campsite of Hohentengen. A ride roughly towards Eglisau is also possible for normal cyclists. On the Swiss side it goes left to the pier and a trail towards Eglisau. This way is nothing for cyclists; Mountain bikers who can not resist (prohibition), only suitable if you really know your bike. There, the path is sometimes so narrow that you could topple the 5m in the Rhine.

Rotwasserstelz Castle

Highlight • Castle

The Rotwasserstelz Castle or Rotwasserstelz Castle, is a charming building in an even more charming location.
Before the Baden expansion it was part of the Bishopric of Constance, today the castle is in the municipality of Hohentengen.

Power from water

Highlight • Monument

The Reckingen power plant is a run-of-river power plant on the Upper Rhine, around 700 meters above the Rekingen train station. Because the power plant building is on the Baden side of the Reckingen district of the Küssaberg municipality, the spelling with ck is used and not the spelling of the Rekingen municipality on the Swiss side.

September 22, 2024,4. Etappe Kaiserstuhl – Burgruine Weisswasserstelz Runde von Rekingen
As usual, it was nicer to walk on the Swiss side.

Unfortunately, the signage on the trail in Germany is not always perfect either.

It was an easy and very nice tour

Today we went on the autumn hike with my friends from Aargau.
One year ago we hiked the Via Rhenana from Eglisau to Kaiserstuhl, today in ideal hiking weather we continued to Rekingen. There are still about 7 or 8 old bunkers on this section, and a nice barbecue area has been set up on the roof of one.
