The Alps-Adriatic cycle path always goes along the road from the Austrian / Italian border to Arnoldstein. In Arnoldstein itself there are various shops as well as a few cafes and restaurants.
It is advisable not to drive straight through Arnoldstein, but to turn off in the direction of Gail. There is a small, secluded street parallel to the motorway. With almost no traffic, this is clearly the better alternative than taking the bike path further along the busy road.

With funds from the EU, a 47-kilometer cycle path was created on the disused railway line from Tarvisio to Resiutta, which leads along the Fella river (canal valley / Valcanale) through the mountains of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Especially the section between Resiutta and Pietragliata is peppered with tunnels and bridges, the views of the river valley or the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. The route is very well developed and asphalted, even if a few shorter detours were necessary. 35 of the 50 kilometers are on the railway line.
