Border - Arnoldstein Alpe Adria Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The Alps-Adriatic cycle path always goes along the road from the Austrian / Italian border to Arnoldstein. In Arnoldstein itself there are various shops as well as a few cafes and restaurants.
It is advisable not to drive straight through Arnoldstein, but to turn off in the direction of Gail. There is a small, secluded street parallel to the motorway. With almost no traffic, this is clearly the better alternative than taking the bike path further along the busy road.

Pontebbana Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

The cycle route in the Kanaltal is really great and up to the slope right at the border really family-friendly. Beware: the many cyclists find it difficult to spontaneously find a place to stay during the season. I had to drive in Pontebba at night over the lance pass because everything was occupied (the lance pass is a real force: lonely barely used, scenic great)

Camporosso - Tarvisio Alpe Adria Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Slight, even ascent, cleanly developed. So it is only 200 m to the Wurzenpass.

Probably the most beautiful section of the Alpe-Adria cycle path leads along a very well-developed cycle path with many bridges and tunnels. The old railway tracks have been removed and the path asphalted.

Malborghetto–Ugovizza Alpe Adria Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

In addition to "Fort Hensel", the route here is along the Alps-Adriatic cycle path. Beautiful and away from the busy road, you have the best views here. Many other cyclists are also out and about in the summer months.

In the northeast of Italy, in the border triangle between Austria, Italy and Slovenia, you will find one of the most beautiful railway cycle paths in Italy: the new cycle path on the old "Pontebbana" railway line. With funds from the EU, a 47-kilometer cycle path was created on the disused railway line from Tarvisio to Resiutta, which leads along the Fella river (canal valley / Valcanale) through the mountains of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Especially the section between Resiutta and Pietragliata is peppered with tunnels and bridges, the views of the river valley or the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. The route is very well developed and asphalted, even if a few shorter detours were necessary. 35 of the 50 kilometers are on the railway line. Only the bypass routes have some short uphill/downhill sections. The route is very well signposted, you can hardly get lost

After the 2nd bend in the Nassfeld Pass, I always think, why are you doing that, finally at the top 🤪 I think, nice that you did that 😉. All in all a nice tour.

Wonderful tour over Nassfeld in fantastic conditions!👍😅

The descent from Nassfeld is magnificent, with a great route. We returned to Arnoldstein train station via the Alpe Adria Cycle Path. The tour started at Hermagor train station.
