Marian Chapel, Schwarzsee-Bad

Since it was built in 1840, Holy Mass has been read in the Bad Chapel on Sundays during the summer, and it was popular not only with spa guests but also with Alpine farmers from further afield. The little church was a magnet for everyone at the time. At the beginning of the 1950s, the chapel's existence was threatened by land speculation and its decay. The Catholic Action Group Bern intervened and acquired the chapel in 1954. It built the Chapel of Our Lady at Schwarzsee. The members renovated the chapel with many hours of hard work. They hoped to complete what was impossible with the help of donations. The ceremonial blessing of the renovated chapel took place on August 29, 1954.
The Hotel Bad with 66 rooms, which was built in 1810 and fell victim to a fire in 1910.
