Picnic Shelter in Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park

There are several of these picnic tables with a roof in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. The roof avoids the otherwise heavy moss and you have a light rain cover. There is enough shade in the forest.

Drachenlager Trekking Campsite

This camp, hidden in the forest, consists of two wooden platforms, each for two smaller tents or one slightly larger tent with a maximum of four people, and a separate dry toilet in a small wooden cabin. The platforms feature a number of anchor points, the spacing of which was rather unsuitable for our (not self-supporting) tents. However, with extension cords, setting up the tents worked reasonably well. A table is integrated into the platform; the planks of the platform serve as "benches," with the legs dangling down. Unfortunately, there are no poles or attachment points for hammocks, as I've seen with other platform solutions. It's also important to note that a strict fire ban is in place here, which is independent of higher forest fire warning levels and also prohibits the use of stoves.
