Kleiner Rosenhoferteich

Highlight • Lake

The ponds belong to the Rosenhof Forestry Estate and were originally used for timber storage.
Swimming is not permitted in the large pond, but swimming is permitted in the small pond. However, the dark water takes some getting used to and requires a bit of courage.

Panny Marie – reconstructed church

Highlight • Religious Site

Panny Marie (German: Maria vom Gute Rat) is a Roman Catholic church in Pohoří na Šumavě (German: Buchers). It was built as a wooden chapel as early as 1779 and later converted into a baroque church. After the Germans were expelled from Czechoslovakia after 1945, the church gradually fell into disrepair, until the church tower finally collapsed in 1999 and the nave was destroyed.

The Bucherser Heimatverein has been committed to reconstruction since 2005 - luckily for you! Because this is how you can visit them now.

Our AGP was near the Bucheres Memorial Chapel near Karlstift in the Waldviertel. However, you could drive a bit further, use the official free parking lot on Czech soil, and take the trail in reverse. The hike is not demanding, with stunningly beautiful forests, meadows, and hiking trails. A very beautiful panorama, lots to see, and it's very quiet.
