Brunnenburg Monastery Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

Romantic ruin with a magnificent view of the Lahn valley from the vantage point immediately below the ruins - definitely have a look!
The trail down to the Lahn, just before the ruins, is not very modest but quite mobile.

Unfortunately, the most beautiful part of the tour is no longer maintained. It has been broken by the wind for months.
Without this section, it would have been 1 star.
In addition, half of the viewpoints are overgrown. What a pity

Start/finish of the tour was Bremberg. The Klosterweg 🏰 leads along an old mule track. It was once a connecting path between the 👼 Arnstein monastery and the Brunnenberg nunnery. A path that was certainly often used at the time. 🙏
Which direction was the traffic going? Everyone may form their own opinion after completing the hike. 😇
The call …

The hike is very nice, straight through the forest, great views and long dirt roads, but I would still look at this tour properly on the laptop and avoid a lot of tar roads where possible.

The hiking car park is well signposted from the center of Bremberg, but is a bit remote. From there you first hike in the direction of Brunnenburg. You are not allowed to enter the Brunnenburg itself, but the view through the main entrance gives you a good impression of the former size of the monastery.

Spontaneous decisions are usually the best!!
So after a digestive nap we set off almost a little too late!!
I found the monastery path by chance from the name, here on komoot and it was also on mapy.cz!!
So I got dressed and headed to Seelbach!
I parked at the old wind turbine and was right on the tour!!
Then …

Today I went to the Lahn River again. This monastery trail is actually about 16 km long. Since I travelled by train instead of by car, I had to create my own access route from Obernhof. The actual trail is quite varied and definitely worth it. I'm just a little surprised that this circular hike is only signposted in one …

Attention, the original tour is closed from the Kalkofen viewpoint towards the SE due to extreme tree breakage.
Don't get your hopes up from the "Café Noll" sign, the restaurant is closed.

Great tour in scorching heat. Unfortunately, the path was very difficult to pass in places due to wind damage. So there were a few climbing sections. 😁 Unfortunately, no places to stop for refreshments
