Skidby Mill

Highlight • Monument

Skidby Mill is a Grade II listed four-sail windmill and is surrounded by its original outbuildings and courtyard. The Museum of East Riding Rural Life is housed in the outbuildings.

The Mill is still operational but from January 2022 is undergoing renovations so is not currently milling flour or open to the public. Please check their website for the most up to date information though as this may change from the time of writing (September 2022). eastridingmuseums.co.uk/find-a-museum/?entry=skidby_mill

Beverley Minster

Highlight • Historical Site

Beverley Minster was constructed in the 13th century and holds the claim of one of the largest parish churches in England.

It's a beautiful piece of architecture, often regarded as one of the most stunning Gothic buildings in Europe. Its stained-glass windows are renowned, with some dating back to the 14th century.

I'd highly recommend taking a walk inside the building, which is open between 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday.

Beverley Minster

Highlight • Historical Site

With intricate church spires and carvings, Beverley Minster is often regarded as a gothic masterpiece. A church would have stood here since around 700 to 850 AD, with extensive building work taking place in the 12th century. Beverley Minster is one of the largest churches in the UK and it is actually bigger than many cathedrals. Look out for the organ when you visit, it is mounted above a carved wooden screen designed by Gothic architect Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1880.
