Schiller Steps

Highlight • Structure

Above the Schiller stairs, the view is not as far as at the dragon's head, but the street gorge below the stairs with its villas standing on both sides has its charms. The adjoining park at the stair head offers many resting options.

Liesenkreuz Shelter

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The unique refuge at the Liesenkreuz is made of solid wooden trunks, decorated with an eagle's head and accessible via a few steps. The interior is empty and the design suggests: You can bivouac here! For a sunny break there is a long bench with a large table outside. And it is always idyllic here!

There is water from the babbling Nonnenfliess. In summer it is advisable to have mosquito spray in your backpack.

Fairy Tale Path

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The path has a lot to offer in terms of photography. Gentle winding paths, wide views, old trees. A rest on the Fernblickbank is a good option for hikers or cyclists.

September 24, 2025,Rund um die Schorfheide - E1 - Eberswalde ➡️ Biesenthal
At the start of today's tour, the temperature is still in the single digits... brrr 🥶... I quickly walk in a wide arc out of Eberswalde... the gentle winding path leads uphill and downhill through a small wooded area past the Eberswalde Zoo to Spechthausen. Here, the Schwärze River meets the Nonnenfließ (Nonnefließ). The small river meanders for a few …

Since the weather forecast for Thuringia was too bad this morning, we headed towards Berlin again shortly after 8, like almost every day. The "Around the Schorfheide" tour is relatively new and was nominated in the public vote for "Germany's most beautiful hiking trail 2022". That's why I want to hike it in 5 stages in the near future.

My prelude to "Around the Schorfheide". Good route, well signposted (at least once you are out of Eberswalde city centre). Finally, I recommend a coffee at Konditorei Franke in Biesenthal (near Markt) 😋

Following Anette's and Frank's suggestion, we have finally started the route "Around the Schorfheide". Today the first stage from Eberswalde to Biesenthal was on in very fresh weather. This stage can be easily reached by train from Berlin and leads through the wonderful Nonnenfiß. I'm really looking forward to the next parts.

The hike was actually supposed to be to Stralsund today, but... chaos began at Südkreuz 😮‍💨, the train only went as far as Eberswalde, rail replacement bus service to Angermünde, then back towards Strahlsund, no bus in Eberswalde 😲, and crowds all wanting to go to Stralsund, so
Plan B was needed:
From Eberswalde to Herthafliess, along the Schwärze, to …
