Lünzen Watermill

Highlight • Monument

1587
There were first indications of the mill by the Rotenburger money register.
1628
Documentation about mill payment. In this century raged the 30-year war.
1706
Flooding created a dam break, which also washed away the mill bridge.
1747
By marriage with the miller's daughter the name Heino appears for the first time. Until 2000, the mill is owned by the family. In the middle of the 18th century, the proceeds are so good that the Heino family is mentioned as the organ donor.
1897
A sawmill was added laterally.
1913
The mill will be increased by one floor.
1945
In April, just a few weeks before the end of the war, the demolition of the mill bridge was prevented at the last minute. It would have severely damaged the mill building.
1948
The electric motor slowly displaces the transmission.
1979
Last entry in the mealbook.
Since 1999, the group of conservationists has been volunteering. Revenue from mill tours and donations has made a visible contribution to the restoration of the monument.

Introductory tour with my wife from Schneverdingen, Lüneburg Heath. To start the holiday today we went to the west of Schneverdingen. A beautiful route that is easy to drive. The Walter Peters Park and the old Lünzen water mill are beautiful, although it is no longer in operation. In the small towns you can see many farms and houses with …

The watermill in Lünzen isn't a beautiful highlight, but rather a deterrent example of how culture and history are treated! A lovely rest area by the small Fleetsee lake, and again, plenty of benches in the right places. Thanks for that. 👍

First tour through the heath, headwind wasn't bad. Very relaxing, hardly any cars. Lots of interesting angles. Unfortunately the Lünzen mill was closed.
But an ice cream in Schneverdingen compensated.
