Gangolfsberg Nature Trail

Highlight • Trail

Great route, especially from the basalt prism wall, it goes over hill and dale. At the beginning there is a lot of information about the different types.

The early ramparts are located directly on the path between the Thüringer Hütte and the Baummossfiguren. Very beautiful path and a very nice resting place at the Gangolsfskapelle

From the Gangolfsberg parking lot to the Elsbachgraben, here along the Elsbach with the wonderful rushing of the water, on the trail to the road, here along a bit and then right again into the Lange Rhön towards Ilmenberg or Thüringer Hütte and from there back to the parking lot at the Schweinfurter Haus, on this section you walk along …

Today's hike start at 07.05 at 0°,
back at 10:13 am at 11°
from the Thuringian to the Gangolfsberg with its early medieval fortifications
Is a nice tour, sturdy shoes are recommended.

Showing Translation

It is best to start at the Thüringer Hütte, where you can park better than in the Elsbachtal.

Unfortunately it's over again, but we still treated ourselves to a little treat.

Today we went on a hike from the basalt lake to the basalt prism wall. On the way we passed the Teufelskeller and the Thüringer Hütte. All in all, the tour was very impressive and worth repeating 🙂.

Destination: Gangolfsberg

We parked at the Gangolfsberg car park. First we walked the nature trail (I highly recommend it) past the basalt columns. Then on the Franziskusweg to the Rother Kuppe (711m).⛰️
Anyone who is here should definitely climb the tower and enjoy the view. 🔭

An overall very nice tour of the Rhön. Certainly a highlight in sunny weather because of the views. Large parking lot. At the beginning, the route unfortunately leads the hikers along a country road for a while. The highlight is the gorge!

Finally back in the Rhön 💖🍀 The weather was just perfect and this tour was fantastically beautiful.
