Suresnes American Cemetery and Memorial

Located on the eastern slope of Mont Valérien, the Suresnes American Cemetery is the only place of remembrance in Europe to associate the two world wars. Created in 1917 by the "Graves Registration Service" and it was inaugurated in 1919. It welcomes the 1541 American soldiers who died during the First World War and 24 unknown soldiers who died during the Second War. The victims of war rest for eternity side by side, without any distinction. It is very moving to look around all the tombs and to note in particular the presence of brothers, sisters, cousins as well as eight nurses. Granted by France to the American Nation, the military cemetery is part of the peaceful and historic setting of Mont Valérien, classified as a high place of memory by the Ministry of Defense -> destination.
