Lake Chevril

Highlight • Lake

The Chevril Dam lake, or Tignes, is decorated with a very pretty statue by the Italian artist Livio Benedetti, named "The Lady of the Lake". The sculpture is located between the banks and the road, therefore easily accessible to be admired.

Another work of art is located on the dam itself and therefore more difficult to see. It is a gigantic wall fresco representing Hercules who seems to be holding back water by his sole force.

It is the highest French dam. It supplies two hydroelectric power stations.

Le Fornet Village

Highlight • Settlement

Le Fornet is a charming hamlet at the exit of Val d'Isère towards the Col de l'Iseran. The only noise you can hear is the cries of marmots.

Kilometer marker

Highlight • Other

From here, it's another 10km to the top of the pass. The stones are a great guide, as they indicate the average gradient for the next kilometer and the current elevation. And from here, you also have a beautiful view of Val d'Isère.

Val d'Isère

Highlight • Settlement

Val-d'Isère is a picturesque little high mountain village nestled in the foothills of the Vanoise massif.

Long sidelined, the village experienced the development of skiing and its resort in the 1930s. Its ski area is now coupled with that of Tignes under the name "Espace Killy" or "Val-d'Isère Tignes".

In its historic center, the old stones and the slate roofs give the village all its authenticity. In the suburbs, the many hotels and restaurants testify to its economic development.
