Cabrerets

Highlight • Settlement

This village nestled in the Rochechourbe cliff is well worth a visit. At the confluence of the Sagne Valley and the Célé Valley, it is also just a few kilometers from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. Perched on the cliff, you can see numerous troglodyte houses as well as the ruins of the Château des Anglais, also known as the Devil's Castle.

A second castle sits on a promontory overlooking the river. Built in the 15th century, this castle is magnificently preserved. It is not open to the public except during Heritage Days.

The English Castle of Bouziès

Highlight • Castle

High on the road from Cahors to Saint-Cirq Lapopie, nestled in the cliffs, lies the English castle of Bouziès. You can see fortifications from the 11th and 12th centuries, anchored in the limestone rock. The Château des Anglais served as a refuge to protect the population in case of attack.

The interior is not open to visitors. View of the castle from the road or the metal bridge of Bouziès.

The Devil's Castle (or English Castle) dominates the Célé and the Sauliac road. Its name is due to its history, as it served as a hideout during the Hundred Years' War.

Interior cannot be visited.

Also worth seeing are numerous troglodyte or semi-troglodyte houses.

Bouzies

Highlight • Settlement

Bouziès is a small village with only 80 inhabitants. It is located at the confluence of the Lot and Célé valleys and in the heart of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park. In Bouziès you can take a boat trip or rent a boat.

You can take a nice walk here along the Chémin de Halgage towpath, which was carved into the rock wall along the banks of the Lot. Le Château des Anglais is also definitely worth a visit. It is illuminated between Easter and All Saints' Day.

The pulpit protrudes a little above the rock, so that one can not only overlook the course of the Lot, but also see the towpath carved into the rock, which lies a good 100m below.

Saint-Cirq-Lapopie

Highlight • Settlement

A true masterpiece of medieval times. The village is perched on a cliff overlooking one of the meanders of the Lot. Very visited, it deserves its classification among the most beautiful villages in France.
