Bridge Over the Mogent River

Highlight • Bridge

Watercourse of the Catalan Mediterranean System that joins the Gorge at the term of Montornès and forms the Besòs. It is born in the Marina mountain range, on the Valais side of the Corredor mountain range, at about 600 meters above sea level. On reaching the terminus of Llinars del Vallès, it changes direction and passes through Llinars, la Roca, Vilanova and Montornès. On the right bank, the most important tributaries are the streams of Vilamajor and Cànoves or Vallforners. On the left, since it closely follows the fault of the mountain range, it has no important tributaries. However, the small streams that are there bring a lot of water in times of heavy rains. The Mogent water is used to irrigate the whole basin, and is particularly important in the areas included in the municipalities of Vilanova and Montornès, before reaching the urban centres.
The otter has reproduced in the Mogent River, a tributary of the Besòs River, for the first time in more than four decades.
Throughout history, it has experienced significant floods caused, especially, by lasting autumn rises. One of the most notable took place at the end of September 1971.

Port of Badalona

Highlight • Structure

The port of Badalona was developed to improve a coastal area previously dedicated to industrial use. With the improvement of the area of the Forum and the Río Besos, it was decided to improve the other end of the river, replacing the factories and companies on the seafront to increase the coastal area while maintaining a continuous coastline and promenade. In this context and with the demand in the area for recreational areas for the residents of Badalona, the Badalona port project was decided along with the rest of the improvement of the coastline of this city.

The port of the Marina de Badalona is integrated into an ambitious remodeling that the city is facing. It faces the transformation of two kilometers of coastline, from the characteristic three chimneys to the Anís del Mono factory. An area that will be integrated into the urban fabric of the city. The regeneration of a promenade that will connect with Montgat and the Fòrum territory, turning to family residential use the land that had been occupied for more than a hundred years by mainly chemical industries located on the seafront. One of the main virtues is that they reduce the constructed area by 50%.

The port of the Marina de Badalona contributes to this remodeling by offering leisure spaces such as parks, restaurants, a shopping center, etc...

The promenade of El Maresme connects several municipalities along its route between Sant Adrià de Besós and Vilassar de Mar. This section between Montgat and El Masnou is a real delight to do on foot or by bike, because the pleasant walk is complemented by beautiful views of the entire maritime front where it passes.
