The former city hall of Medemblik was built in 1940 to a design by architect A. J. Kropholler. The building style is very traditional and is characterized by the solid brick appearance. The contrast with the nearby Lely pumping station, which was completed more than ten years earlier, could hardly be greater.

The sculpture in the facade and on the platform are creations of John Rädecker, known for his contribution to the National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam.

The first floor is used as the City Museum of the Medenblick Antiquarian Society. Objects and archaeological finds from Medemblik and the surrounding area are shown here. In one room, the West Frisian Omringdijk is central. You will also find the furnished mayor's room on the first floor.

In the stairwell you will see three stained glass windows depicting episodes from the history of the city of Medemblik.

The council chamber, now a wedding location, on the second floor forms the heart of the building and is also open during Open Monuments Day. The interior still has its original furnishings and character.

The Mennonite meeting house on Dorpsstraat in the North Holland village of Twisk was built in 1867 under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works.
