The Stadtkrone structure, which was built on a plateau at the western tip of the amusement park, serves as a symbol of change and as a place for participation in the redesign of the Bürgerpark. To this end, the city of Dorsten and Marion Taube, who came up with the idea, organized an artist and landscape architect competition. The winner was the design by the office "Het Observatorium" from Rotterdam. Mila Ellee, who accompanied the process from the competition to completion as the city planner of the city of Dorsten, speaks of a "symbiosis of landscape structure and art object that crowns the entire redesign of the Maria Lindenhof public park".
