With the construction of the Rurtalsperre 1934-1938 and its expansion 1955-1959, a large part of the old Woffelsbach in the Rursee disappeared. At the same time, tourism in Woffelsbach began, initially in the 1930s and received a significant boost with the second expansion phase of the Rurtalsperre (1955-1959) and the founding of the Yacht Club Rursee in 1956.
