The Sylvenstein Reservoir – named after a natural narrow passage in the
• upper Isar Valley – dams the Isar River and its tributaries, the Dürrach and Walchen. This created a fjord-like lake that blends so naturally into the mountain landscape, as if it were a relic from the Ice Age.

What a way to end the week in Bavarian Canada, after a week to forget.
If someone had told me on Wednesday that Sunday would be a day to enjoy, I wouldn't have believed it.
My tooth 🦷 still throbs when I exert myself, but that makes up for it.
A few more days or weeks and the Indian Summer …

Not an easy hike. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required. Walk along a narrow path through rustic mountain forest on the right side of the reservoir. At the end of a wide forest road and back along the lake shore. Fantastic views of the lake and the Isar river.

Haven't been to the Sylvenstein reservoir for a long time and gratefully accepted Angela's suggestion today.

Put the icing on the cake of a dream day 🌞🌞 today 😍😍😍

Walked the high-altitude circular trail and mostly had the lake in view 🤩🤩

But this year's mountain season was a real treat for me 🥰 everything went as I had imagined and there were no major injuries 🤗 and of …

A lovely loop around part of the Sylvenstein Reservoir. From the bridge, I followed a narrow hunter's trail on the north side of the reservoir. The trail wasn't marked on any of my maps; I only discovered it thanks to some Komoot users (many thanks for the inspiration!). Sure enough, early that morning, I encountered a hunter on the trail …

Route: The lookout point was okay, wanted to take a shortcut up but it didn't work because of the trees, risk of slipping!!!! Better to take the right path!!!! Good shoes are essential, it rained overnight, the path isn't wide, always look ahead and be sure-footed otherwise you'll end up going downhill!!!! The route doesn't look that dangerous, but back …

Ok, not all the way around, but up to the bridge! Didn't think you could even get there! Quite a bit of snow, and the new wildlife sanctuary has been touched a bit! :-) Snow enough!
