What can I say, the forest here has to become beautiful again.

Harz National Park

Highlight • Forest

This sight shocks me as a nature lover. Where once there was a dark green, dense coniferous forest, today there is one thing in particular: a bare tree landscape. A sight that not only hurts me as a resin fan.

Rest area at a crossroads. Here you either go to the nearby Rehberger Grabenhaus, or to Andreasberg or to the cowshed.

Not just a nice place for a break! The Sonnenberger Graben and the Rehberger Graben date back to the mining era in the Harz. The two ditches that are joined here were used to supply water to the mining industry at the time. There are said to be around 1,600 of these ditch systems in the Harz.

Rehberger Graben

Highlight • Structure

😎Mining left countless traces in the Upper Harz that still shape the landscape today. These include the Rehberger Graben, a moat just over seven kilometers long that was built for mining purposes in the early 18th century. It transported the water stored in the Oderteich to the mines in St. Andreasberg.

Historic Granite Quarry at Rehberger Graben

Part of the whole. At that time, the quarry served as a material supplier for fastening the trench systems. The trench systems and the small quarries created in many places are therefore already a historical unit.

A small round to such a beautiful inn that is unfortunately closed.
A great forest path 😊

Today I was in the Harz again after a long time, because my stamp book of the Harz hiking pin still has a few empty fields 😁

The stamps were easy to get hold of as they were close to the (free) parking lot.

Tour 2 of the day. I actually wanted to do the 12 km circular route, but after the first kilometer it started to rain. So I decided to do a little stamp hopping and stopped at the Grabenhaus.

Showing Translation

Well... if you want stamps, you have to go through it! Forest in transition. We probably won't see the new one anymore... 😏
At least the Rehberger Grabenhaus is open again!

Starting from the Dreibrode hiking car park, the third stamp point today is the Dreibrodestein. A pile of boulders. The forest here is only just starting to become as beautiful as the one around Lautenthal. On the other side of the road, I go to the Rehberger Grabenhaus, a pretty restaurant. On the way there, I pass the Haus Sonnenburg, …
