They’ve been here for years and it still makes me laugh!

View of the Countryside

Highlight • Viewpoint

This quiet stretch of country road just begged for a picture today.

With vast plowed fields on the railway background under a grey sky and in the dwindling end-of-day light, it just called to me (or maybe it was the tired legs begging for a break?).
And even though my mobile couldn't fully capture the moment, I felt compelled to stop and contemplate nature for a brief minute while I was getting lost in my thoughts.

St James the Great Church, Ruscombe

Highlight • Historical Site

The Church of England parish church of St James was built in the late 12th century.

Its Norman chancel survives but its nave and west tower were rebuilt in 1638–39. Additional modifications were made in the 1800s.

The church has been a Grade I listed building since 1967.

Sonning Centre

Highlight • Viewpoint

Can get busy but nothing moves as the traffic gets gridlocked to the bridge, easy to manoeuvre and skip past on a bike though. Some lovely historic buildings and great views further on by the Thames

Sonning Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

This grade II-listed bridge spans the River Thames above Shiplake Lock. Built from red bricks during the 18th century, it's a particularly picturesque bridge and has been much painted and photographed.

There's most likely been a bridge on the site since at least the 12th century and this iteration replaced a 16th-century wooden bridge.

Caversham Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

One of the gates that allows access to the Chilterns coming from Reading, this bridge can become quite congested with cars and the two lanes per travelling direction often require cyclists some attention and care in choosing the ideal position to contend with fast-flowing traffic.
