Griebnitz Canal

Highlight • River

The Griebnitz Canal was created in 1901-1906 at the same time as the Teltow Canal by connecting individual existing lakes. It should serve tourism and improve the water quality of the lakes.

December 25, 2024,Berliner Mauerweg Etappe 3: Vom Griebnitzsee zum Wannsee
Our third stage starts on a sunny Christmas Day at Griebnitzsee. The Wall Trail leads through Potsdam's villa district (e.g. past the house where Jerks was filmed😁). At some point you reach the Glienicke Bridge, which is known from previous exchanges of agendas (or the film Bridge of Spies). We then walked along the Wannsee to the Pfaueninsel without stopping. …

Today we went along the Wall Trail 😊 we had to re-plan our tour a bit because many of the paths we wanted or had to go through were closed 😉. It wasn't a big deal, we still saw a lot and every now and then we even got a little bit of rain 🤗. We thought it was a …

September 20, 2025,Wannsee Wanderung
A leisurely hike, partly along the Berlin Wall Trail, along the southwestern border. The hike repeatedly passes through suburban residential areas, past Glienicke Palace and the Glienicke Bridge. The last third is mostly on roads. We chose forest paths as an alternative. The entire hike is dotted with numerous inns.

Today we took a lovely tour from Berlin's Nikolassee to Wannsee, Kleiner Wannsee, Pohlesee, Stölpchensee, and the Griebnitz Canal. We continued to Potsdam and Griebnitzsee. Then to Klein Glienicke, Glienicke Hunting Lodge, Glienicke Palace, and Glienicke Bridge. We followed the Havel River to Pfaueninsel and then through the Düppel Forest to Wannsee. Finally, we returned to Nikolassee.
A lovely, water-filled …

Today was supposed to be part 2 of the Wall Trail. I've walked almost all parts of this stage before, but never together. First from Babelsberg to the Wall Trail at Griebnitzsee. Then on towards Babelsberg Park and the Glienicke Bridge. From there, keep going along the water, past the Moorlanke rest house and the ferry to Pfaueninsel in Wannsee. …

Today another memorable tour on the Berlin Wall Trail. Always exciting to feel where the Wall was, and where West and East are. The Wall Trail doesn't always go where the Wall really was. Dreilinden makes you think. It's funny that you go down a flight of stairs to the rest area and thus get from the forest onto the …
