View of Glienicke Hunting Lodge

Highlight • Viewpoint

Externally a beautiful object with a freely accessible park. The property includes the social pedagogical training center for educators from Berlin and Brandenburg. A tour of the interior is not possible. I personally only know it with armor on some side. I.e. it is always built.

Steam Engine House

Highlight • Monument

Already quite bizarre, what elaborate "disguises" were once devised for utility buildings:
A pump house in Moorish style 😅
Today, however, the structure is an absolute eye-catcher!

Medieval Court Pavilion

Highlight • Historical Site

The 13th-century Berlin Courtyard was demolished in 1871 and rebuilt here in Babelsberg Park (and remodeled in a historicist style). Here, it takes the form of a pavilion on a plateau. Certainly one of the most impressive sites in Babelsberg Park.

If you walk past the castle towards the “summit” of Babelsberg, you will have beautiful and picturesque views of the fairytale castle.

Babelsberg Park

Highlight • Rest Area

In 1902, a pedestrian bridge was built over the Teltow Canal. This bridge was given to the Emperor Wilhelm II as a compensation for the land needed for canal construction, which he had ceded. It was considered the most beautiful bridge over the entire Teltow Canal.

The bridge was destroyed at the end of World War II, but quickly rebuilt. With the construction of the border fortifications in connection with the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the parking bridge became the border checkpoint and Klein Glienicke the restricted area.

With the fall of the Berlin Wall - with Klein Glienicke - the bridge was also reopened for traffic. Since the bridge is very narrow, the construction of a traffic light system was necessary in order to realize for the individual Verklehr.

Lake Griebnitz

Highlight • Lake

One of the most beautiful riverside paths in Potsdam runs along the Griebnitzsee at the foot of the Neubabelsberg villa colony. The former border strip stretches from Babelsberg Park to the (West) Berlin city limits in Stubenrauchstrasse. The character of the design and the legal status are still being debated. Some areas of the trail are currently closed to public use by residents until further notice. And it will probably stay that way.

Griebnitzsee

Highlight (Segment) • Lake

This area of the Teltow Canal is surrounded by nature and very worthwhile. There is hardly any sign of the city. With a bit of luck, you can observe several cranes up close. There are numerous ways to combine the canal path with alternative hiking routes and sights. The path is easy and well-walkable, but not wheelchair accessible.

Southernmost of three bridges over the waterway over which the Stölpchenweg runs. On one bank is the Forsthaus Wannsee with accommodation and a restaurant.

Very enjoyable walk with Ann-Christin, Karola and Kathrin. We start at the Wannsee S-Bahn station and walk through the Düppeler Forest to Pohlesee. From there we follow the Griebnitz Canal to Griebnitzsee. At Wartmanns we have delicious quiche and great cakes, as well as background music that takes some getting used to.

We'll come back anyway and hike more around the corner of Wannsee, I don't know exactly yet. What was impressive today was that we were practically always in the big city of Potsdam or Berlin and the forest was as heavenly quiet as in the deepest forest.

Today we went from Wannsee to Böttcherberg and then on to Babelsberg. I only took a few photos. I was happy to leave that to Achim, who once again captured the highlights with his lens with a practiced eye.

From Wannsee through the forest and then along the Teltower Canal, which widens at Griebnitzsee. Cross a bridge over to the really beautiful Babelsberg Park. A bit embarrassing that as a Berliner I had never been there before. I particularly liked the wide view over the Glienicke Bridge and Potsdam, as well as the isolated, interesting buildings. Really nice here …

Nice tour on forest paths and through the beautiful Babelsberg Park.

Hiked a piece of the E11 again today. We started at S-Bhf.Wannsee. But it felt like an eternity until the cell phone received a GPS signal. We went through the Düppelner forest until we crossed 2 railway bridges to the Griebnitzsee canal, which we crossed. Then we walked along the right bank of the Teltowanal to Klein Glienicke. Here we …

Many roads lead from Wannsee to Babelsberg. Today we choose one of the beautiful forest paths through the Düppeler Forst, follow the Teltow Canal and the Griebnitz Canal for a short distance and finally walk along the shore path of the Griebnitzsee.

In one of our favorite hiking areas, a really nice path leads us from the Wannsee train station via the Kurfürstenweg down to the Teltow Canal, which soon flows into the Griebnitzsee. From there there is a lot of water along our route and a great autumn light. The mild and sunny weather not only lures us into the fresh …
