Steine Rühmen Monument (Glorious Stones)

According to one version, it commemorates the builders of the Toruń Fortress, while another claims it was built in the free time of one of the Prussian regiments stationed at the Toruń garrison. There is also a theory that the monument commemorates a Toruń pilot who died in a plane crash there.

The inscription on the monument literally translates to "Stones Praise," which, combined with excerpts from a speech by Mayor Stachowitz during the unveiling of the monument in December 1915, discovered in press archives, suggests that the monument was erected to honor the soldiers of the German army who defeated the Russian army in 1914.
