St. Victor Church (Poschiavo)

The core of the church was started in the 12th century (early Middle Ages), the walls of the nave probably date from the late Middle Ages. The tower was built in the first half of the 13th century. The church was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded, with the construction work in the Baroque style essentially ending in 1653. In the late 17th century, a sacristy was added, and the carvings on the west gate date from 1700. The interior was redesigned in a neo-Gothic style again in 1902 and 1903. The church was renovated outside in 1975 and 2003, and inside from 1988 to 1989. Attempts were made time and again to preserve or restore the original character of the church.
