Lake Valdaora

Highlight • Lake

The Olang Reservoir (also Welsberger Reservoir, Welsberger Lake or Olanger Lake, Italian Lago di Valdaora) is located in the upper Puster Valley in South Tyrol. It dams the Rienz River at a height of up to 1055 m and covers an area of up to 44 hectares. The reservoir is used to generate energy. In addition to the water from the reservoir, the associated Bruneck-Olang hydroelectric power station also uses catchments on the Rienz tributaries Antholzer Bach, Brunstbach, Furkelbach and Wielenbach.

Wooden Bridge Over Stream Near Stone Church

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

... this route offers a good alternative to the busy road. I am surprised that this route has not yet been made an official cycle path. The ground on the forest path is very stable, firm and compact, with hardly any pebbles or gravel. A stream can be crossed directly through or over a stable wooden bridge.

Lake Braies north shore

Highlight • Lake

Lake Braies has a unique location in the middle of the Braies Dolomites and in the northern part of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. The geological origin of the "Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes", as the emerald green lake is often called, is due to the creation of a dam through a mud flap.

Lake Braies also plays a role in the world of legends, because it was said that you could reach the underground realm of the Fanes by boat. The gateway to the underworld was at the southern end of the lake, where the imposing Seekofel (2,810 m) dominates the lake. It is not for nothing that this summit of the Braies Dolomites, coveted by mountaineers, bears the name "Sass dla Porta", meaning Torberg. Lake Braies is also the starting point for numerous mountain tours in the area and the Dolomite high-altitude trail no. 1 starts here. From the surrounding mountains you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake.

The only drawback: the lake is a very popular tourist destination. Visually beautiful, you won't find the tranquility of the mountains here.

With Mariella. Beautiful ride with fabulous cycle paths. With Komoot that made me take the wrong route because there was no signal😁😁😁
