Ploumanac'h Tidal Mill

Highlight • Monument

The tide mill on the bridge linking Ploumanac’h to Trégastel is a testimony to the artisans of the 16th century. It was in operation until 1932. In practice, the mill operated six hours per tide (3 hours before low tide and 3 hours after), except at neap tide.

Tourony Beach

Highlight • Beach

Plage de Tourony is a wonderful little beach that looks out across the numerous rocky islets in the Trégastel bay. With sand and rocks, it's rather picturesque and a great place to stop for a picnic. The Eurovelo 4 passes right by, so you won't miss it.

The term chateau is overused, it is in fact a large neo-medieval style manor house characteristic of the large resort houses of the late 19th century on the pink granite coast. The building, with a complex massing resulting from several extensions, is made of pink granite from the quarries of La Clarté, Perros-Guirec district. The roof is slate. Its interior was designed with reclaimed wood from a three-master beached in winter 1896, the Mauritius.
This was built on an islet bought by Bruno Abakanowicz (also called Bruno Abdank, who built a little later around 1896 the Hôtel Bellevue in Ploumanac'h), engineer and mathematician of Polish origin at the end of the century. summer 1892 to the customs officer René Le Brozec, a Perrosien who cultivated potatoes there and dried lichen and fish. The transaction at the time was 0.25 francs per square meter. It was completed around 1896 by the engineer Lanmoniez and the Lannionnais entrepreneur Pierre Le Tensorer. After her death in 1900, her daughter, Sofia Abakanowicz, who had become Madame Poray, had the villa extended by a wing to the west in return on the rear facade.
During the Second World War, the villa was requisitioned by the German army, and suffered some interior damage.
Following roofing work, on September 6, 1990, a fire partially destroyed the interior of the building. The image of this castle on its islet is often used to illustrate postcards and tourist guides of the Côte de granit rose, Côtes-d'Armor and Brittany. fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Costa%C3%A9r%C3%A8s

Mega tour. A little tricky from time to time, as it is very narrow. A tad path is signposted right at the beginning, but it was not cleared in the off-season. But it worked. 🤪 And cycling is forbidden on the red rocks. We just pushed them. But the red rocks are the highlight of the tour.
