Chapel of Saint-Uzec

Highlight • Religious Site

The chapel of Saint Uzec was erected in the 14th century, on the boundary of parishes between Pleumeur-Bodou and Trébeurden: the old path, with an east/west axis, still exists, and the Calvary would be the exact boundary between the two parishes. Located on an imposing rock, subsequently largely carved out to provide passage for the road, it faces the menhir of Saint Uzec, visible on the opposite side of the valley. It is adjoined, as is often the case, by a fountain recalling old rites of water worship. It was partially destroyed by lightning in 1974, and gradually restored thereafter, at the initiative of the residents of the neighborhood and the municipality.

Sainte-Anne des Rochers Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

The motif shown by Gabi in the photo of the church window is the most unusual depiction of an "ANNA SELBDRITT" I have ever seen. Background: Anna is the mother of Mary, the mother of God, Jesus' grandmother, who is not mentioned in the official biblical writings. The name "Anna Selbdritt" refers to - pictorial or figurative - representations of these three people, who are also three generations of a family. Here the motif is supplemented by two side angels who adore the Holy Family (without Joseph, Mary's bridegroom).

Ploumanac'h Tidal Mill

Highlight • Monument

The tide mill on the bridge linking Ploumanac’h to Trégastel is a testimony to the artisans of the 16th century. It was in operation until 1932. In practice, the mill operated six hours per tide (3 hours before low tide and 3 hours after), except at neap tide.
