Derwent Walk follows the route of the Derwent Valley Railway that carried industrial materials across the region. Since its closure, the area has been reclaimed by wildlife and become a haven for cyclists and hikers.

The traffic-free route runs through riverside wetlands, wild meadows, and Derwenthaugh Park.
