Obviously no charge for walking over it. The bridge was built 1974-77 replacing the floating bridges. Some good views over the river Itchen.

Lepe Coastal Road

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

This is one of the only sections of road in the New Forest which runs right next to the sea. It's a fabulous stretch of cycling with Lepe Beach at the eastern end.

You can access the beach directly from the road, where there's a pleasant sandy section to stop. The car park next to the beach is part of Lepe Country Park and benefits from a cafe with sea views.

Exbury Gardens

Highlight • Trail

Exbury Gardens is famous for the Rothschild Collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, and camellias, plus rare trees and shrubs. The gardens are a riot of colour in spring, an oasis of tranquillity in summer and put on a tremendous autumnal show as the leaves turn golden. The gardens are a great place to visit with myriad paths to explore, a miniature steam railway line, an adventure play area, and tea rooms.

Beaulieu Village and Motor Museum

Highlight • Monument

Beaulieu is an absolute gem of a village, located in the heart of the New Forest National Park.

There are plenty of lovely options to rest up and refuel (or pre-fuel if your tour starts here!)

It is well worth adding the world-famous Beaulieu Motor Museum to your itinerary. The museum is home to a grand collection of modern and vintage cars, including some that appeared on screen in major movies such as James Bond and Harry Potter.

Beaulieu High Street

Highlight • Settlement

One-way historic High Street running from north to south. Don't expect any supermarkets but there's a good bakehouse just off the main road. Donkeys are seen roaming around here.

Mill Dam, Beaulieu

Highlight • Lake

Owned by the Beaulieu Estate, the mill is one of a small number of relatively intact tide mills that survive in Britain. The dam is a haven for wildlife, with herons, egrets, kingfishers and oystercatchers regularly spotted here.

New Forest National Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

At 566 square kilometers, the New Forest is one of the smallest national parks in Great Britain. Nevertheless, it impresses with its breathtaking diversity: here there are species-rich forests, heaths where deer graze, historic villages and long golden sandy beaches. Thanks to Roman ruins, castles from the Tudor period and smugglers' hideouts, history buffs won't miss out either.
