Linton Falls

Highlight • Natural Monument

After heavy rain or snow make sure you check with local agencies as to whether bridges and/or stepping stones are passable.

A particularly gorgeous part of the walk on the northern banks of River Wharf between Hebden Mill and Grassington, which is also a part of the Dales Way trail. The combined beauty of the trees of the Lythe Plantation with that of the river make for a very scenic spot. In the autumn, the colours of the leaves on the trees add to the spectacle. A must-see!

Hebden Suspension Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

Hebden Suspension Bridge was built by local blacksmith William Bell and opened in September 1885. The bridge rocks a little as you walk over it, and is quite narrow, resulting in a fun crossing of the River Wharfe.

Loup Scar

Highlight • Natural Monument

Halfway between Burnsall and Hebden on the River Wharfe is this very dramatic limestone gorge called Loup Scar. I'd suggest you slow down your run to look at it - it's quite a sight. The scar is on the opposite (northern) bank, but I think it's actually easier to appreciate the drama from here.

Burnsall Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

After heavy rain in the Yorkshire Dales, the River Wharfe swells as it rushes through Burnsall Bridge in Lower Wharfedale. The Grade II-listed packhorse bridge dates from the 17th century and was restored in the 19th century.
