View of Arco Castle

Highlight • Castle

The impressive ruins of the Castello di Arco perched on a rock, almost 278 meters high above the town of Arco and was once the residence of the Count of Arco - hence the name. The origins of the complex go back to the 6th century.

You can visit the ruin daily, the opening times are as follows:
Winter (October - March): 10am to 4pm
Summer (April - September): 10am to 7pm

Sarca River Cycle Path

The Roman bridge of Ceniga, a fraction of the Municipality of Dro, is not a simple bridge, but a symbol for its inhabitants, an element that binds all generations. The origins of the bridge are uncertain, but it seems plausible that in ancient times it could have served to cross the river Sarca from the ancient roads coming from Arco and Laghel. The inscriptions walled up on the parapets recall its reconstruction in the Roman form, dated 1719. The bridge was later demolished by the Austrians during the Third War of Independence to prevent Garibaldi's advance in Val di Ledro. The authorities of the Austrian Empire, following the protests of the local inhabitants, had the bridge rebuilt in 1868.

The perfect place to start a bike tour. From the bridge you can let your gaze wander over the Sarca and guess how it flows a few kilometers downriver into Lake Garda. If you look in the other direction, you will see Arco and beyond the mountains, which you can quickly reach from here.

The Sacre River has created a beautiful valley here, flowing past mountains to Lake Garda. Great hiking and running sections. Arco Castle is striking from all sides.

Sarca River

Highlight • River

A catchment area of almost 1000 square kilometers, 80 km long and a height difference of 1700 meters: the Sarca is the main tributary of Lake Garda. Characterized by narrow canyons, dizzying gorges and an incredible biodiversity, its course is a breathtaking journey, from the high-altitude coniferous forests to the Mediterranean oak forests of Lake Toblino, and further to the Mediterranean serenity of Lake Garda.

Tramping up the steep vineyards in 37-degree heat certainly wasn't my best idea. It wasn't good for my circulation, but it was still nice. Tomorrow, bath day 😊

Just set off, with construction sites and dead ends. But the panorama is always worth it. Panale Castle in Nago is officially closed, but you can get there via a small path next to the gate. The view is breathtaking. A break in Nago is a must. Then, a great bike path along the biotope leads to Mori and back.

Nice tour into the hinterland, initially a constant increase on asphalt 800hm, very steep with easy 20%. Unfortunately, Maso Naranch was closed today. Then a rapid descent and past the nature reserve back to Torbole. Don't forget to stop at the "Al fortino" bar on Via Europa. Brilliant view of Lake Garda and set up for cyclists👍

Unfortunately, Maso Naranch was closed for a private party and there was no refreshment there😩 We were really looking forward to it after the climb....
