Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park is located in downtown Spokane, WA, and is a 100-acre urban park along the Spokane River. The park features the Upper Spokane Falls, which the second-largest urban waterfall in the U.S. There are scenic paths for walkers and runners, and paved trails for cyclists, all with beautiful river views and historic features such as the Great Northern clock tower and Looff Carrousel. The park, established post-Expo '74, is a popular place with over three million annual visitors, and includes the U.S. Pavilion, Spokane Convention Center, and First Interstate Center for the Arts, along with nearby attractions like the River Park Square mall and Mobius Science Center.

This area of the trail is known as "Bowl and Pitcher" because of basaltic rock formations that can be seen along the banks of the Spokane River that imaginative visitors have said resemble a bowl on its side in one area and a pitcher in another.

This section of the Spokane River is right before the hydroelectric dam. Here, you can discover fish like rainbow trout and smallmouth bass. The Spokane River, around 111 miles (179 km) in length, is a tributary of the Columbia River. It runs through northern Idaho and eastern Washington.

Named for a set of boulders near the parking area, this sandy public beach sits just off the Spokane River Centennial Trail. There's no entry fee, which makes this a particularly great spot to park your bike and take a dip — but remember that you're on a moving river with a definite current, so take appropriate precautions if you decide to swim. This is also a popular put-in for kayakers.
