Shining Sea Bikeway Southern End

The Shining Sea Bikeway opened in 1975 along the route of the old New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. This is the southern end of the bike path which runs from Woods Hole all the way up to North Falmouth. It takes in some fantastic scenery along the way, is very flat and easily navigable, so it's great for newcomers to cycling or those wanting a relaxed, easy ride.

Trunk River Beach is a fantastic public beach located right off of the Shining Sea Bike Path. This scenic spot is an excellent place to walk to bike to and is very close to the downtown. Although this beach is on the smaller side, it is an incredibly beautiful place to sunbathe, swim, look for shells, and enjoy a classic Cape Cod vista.

Salt Pond Acres Wildlife Area or Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuary is located just off the fantastic Shining Sea Bikeway. The main aim of this 35 acre reserve is to protect and preserve Falmouth’s open space wildlife habitat. The area has numerous nature trails for you to enjoy the wide variety of wildlife and are accessible from the bikeway.
