The Mount Tom loop from Mount Tom State Park is an easy hiking route that packs a surprising punch for its short length. This 1.2-mile (2.0 km) trail, with just 246 feet (75 metres) of elevation gain, takes about 36 minutes to complete, making it a perfect quick escape for panoramic views. What to expect on Mount Tom loop from Mount Tom State Park

As you ascend the Mount Tom loop, you'll find yourself on an old woods road, sometimes rocky and eroded, especially if you're heading clockwise. The trail winds through scenic woodlands, marked by dark-gray gneiss outcrops, before reaching the summit.
