Here, on the bog lakes are always resting many birds. If you feel like watching the birds with binoculars from bird watching stand NABU, so as not to disturb birds.

The lighthouse can be seen from a distance, and the route can also be easily covered by bike. Along the way, you pass a small inland body of water where you can observe birds from a small wooden hut.

The north can also really have summer. That's a bit unusual, because there's no stiff breeze today. A small parking lot below the bathing lake is the start and finish. And it's so hidden that it's also free.
I can see the highlight of this region from afar. Red and yellow in thick stripes, it's getting closer and closer. The …

Hike on February 7th, 2022

Actually I wanted to cycle from Cuxhaven to Bremerhaven last Monday to be able to tick off the last stretch of the Weser Cycle Path that I'm still missing. In view of the rather stiff breeze from western directions (I would have had the wind from diagonally behind, but alas, it turns a little further …

Today we stopped in Greetsiel on the way to Emden to see the beautiful harbor. Spontaneously I was able to convince my loved one to hike with me to the Pilsum lighthouse. On the way I logged some geocaches. After the obligatory photos we went back to the harbor and ate a pizza. Then it was on to Emden.

The trip to the North Sea began in style with rain just as we were about to set off. But luckily it didn't last long and we were able to start the tour with anticipation. First through cozy Greetsiel and then towards the sea. Mövenpick were our constant companions, a leisurely tour with fresh sea air.

Made a nice hike between two big rain showers

Very nice way from Greetsiel to the lighthouse. Unfortunately, the promised fish stall wasn't there. The way back on a road with little traffic was also okay. When the weather is nice and a little warmer, I can imagine the tour being even nicer, with all the benches along the way you can turn it into a day hike :)

Additional tip: The starting parking lot is free—not a given in Greetsiel. There are about 10-15 parking spaces available (from memory).

Today we're heading towards the North Sea, which is a bit away. We walk along the dike and the cutters overtake us in the sluice, unfortunately a bit far away. A stiff breeze is blowing today - from the front of course (as always). And then we see our destination for today: the Pilsum lighthouse in chic red and yellow …
