View of Rheingrafenstein Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

Very beautiful landscape.
View from the town of Bad Münster am Stein.
Its origins are legendary: the devil is said to have built the castle on the steep, 245 m high porphyry rock. What is certain is that it dates back to the 11th century and was the ancestral home of the Lords of Stein, the later Wild and Rhine Counts.
Since the French troops of Louis XIV blew up the castle in 1689, it has been a ruin and at the same time a landmark of Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg.
The somewhat steep climb is rewarded with a wonderful view of the district and the surrounding area. The Rheingrafenstein castle ruins are located directly and conspicuously in the Bad Münster am Stein district on the other side of the Nahe. The ascent begins adventurously with the crossing of the hand-pulled ferry; it takes about 30 minutes.
In the ferry-free winter time, the Rheingrafenstein can also be easily hiked via the Speckerbrücke in the Ebernburg district.
Definitely worth seeing!

June 17, 2023,Pfalztage - Zwischen Nahe und Ellerbach - Runde von Bad Kreuznach
Today was a really nice bike ride on largely paved bike paths along the two rivers in the heat. I found the steep rock formations on the rivers very impressive! The disadvantage of the round trip is that you have to climb a mountain. But it's actually quite easy to go up there with an eBike. It doesn't get steeper …

Today's tour is again along the Nahe, where we first follow the Ellerbach upstream from Rüdesheim on the narrow-gauge railway circular route until just before Winterburg. It is a quiet cycle path through a tranquil landscape with alternation between open fields/hills and forest passages, and the Ellerbach meanders and bubbles peacefully through the landscape mostly next to us. On this …

This tour starts at the Nahemühle campsite after a good breakfast.

First it goes through vineyards, forest and valley to Bad Kreuznach.
After 15km you will pass two sun beds with a beautiful view.

From Bad Kreuznach it goes back to Monzingen along the Nahe cycle path.

Today's tour took us from Monzingen through the Nahe vineyards to Bad Kreuznach and from there along the Nahe back to the starting point. The first six kilometers were mostly uphill. So we woke up straight away and were warm too. Then the path led through forests and the vineyards of the Nahe. The ascent was rewarded with wonderful views …

Today we went along the Nahe. From Bad Sobernheim to Bad Kreuznach. We pass the Rotenfels and soon we reach Bad Kreuznach.
There are graduation towers everywhere, some still under construction or being restored.
Cute canals run through the city.
The guest can really let himself be pampered here.
In Bretzenheim we want to visit the remains of an old …

Nice round in great weather.
Unfortunately, I also had flat feet in front and my wife broke a spoke 🤷
