Highlight • Viewpoint

Former open pit that has been turned into a nature sanctuary. There are nature trails and a paved circular route around the lake.

Beautiful view of the lake

Highlight • Viewpoint

A wonderful run. Everything paved, no risk of tripping. Partly between the trees, so that you can also walk in the shade. At the end of a run you can get a nice refreshment at football golf (seasonal)

Wölfersheimer See

Highlight • Lake

Lake Wölfersheim was formed by lignite mining in the Wetterau region and is the largest lake in the region.

It lies at the center of the two cycling routes (north and south) of the Wetterau Lake District. Further information:

Playground at Wölfersheimer See

Highlight • Rest Area

A very well-kept playground right on the lake. Climbing equipment, sand swings including a water feature (with a canopy for shade in summer).

❗️NOTE ❗️
I've often observed visitors to the sports park/football/golf course/playground using/abusing the lockable "charging lockers" as a way to lock up valuables.
❗️❗️❗️ So, don't necessarily rely on being able to charge your bike there.

Two weeks ago I would not have thought that I could run 10 km in a row "so quickly". Weather perfect and caught a beautiful view of the full moon.
