The approximately 1,000 hectare "Biesenthal Basin" nature reserve was formed by a glacier tongue during the last ice age. With its moors, various types of forest, numerous natural small bodies of water, species-rich wet meadows and the enclosed Kames hills, it is unique in Brandenburg.
