The Alm has a wonderful view. Homemade cakes and snacks are also served. Of course you will also be provided with a few cool refreshments. As with many alpine pastures, self-service at the counter applies here.

The easy circular hike from Grassau via the Staffn-Alm to the Hefteralm in the Chiemgau Alps is ideal for families with children
Although you don't climb any spectacular peaks, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the open meadows towards the Achental and the opposite Hochgern (1748 m) as well as Lake Chiemsee. You should definitely not miss a long …

PATHS
First a sunny field path up to the mountain/hill. Then a nice walk in the shady forest on hiking trails moderately up to the Rachlalm pastures. The section between Rachlalm and Staffnalm is a bit tougher on wide farm paths.
The way back …

The hike leads directly from the Großrachlhof farm up into the forest to the farm's own Rachlalm. After a cold drink, we continue. We stop for lunch at the Staffnalm (highly recommended). We then skip the Moieralm and finish with a rest at the Hefteralm.

For us, the most rustic alpine pasture, very cozy and authentic.

At over 30°C and at a leisurely pace, we took a loop on the Hochplatte near Marquartstein. Thankfully, there were several cool forest passages, but also beautiful valley views. We stopped at the Hefter and Rachl Alm. Both huts were lovingly and comfortably furnished, but the Hefter Alm lacked a view. The final kilometer from the Rachl Alm to the …

"A little bit is always possible!" It was a good decision to hike "a little" higher today given the temperatures, because every 100 meters of elevation gain is one degree lower and becomes more pleasant ;-)
Today, we hiked from "alpine pasture to alpine pasture" through shady forest, just as Lorenz the Mouse likes.
We started in Grassau, always climbing, …

Next time I would do the tour in the opposite direction and then back to Grassau via the waterfall. We walked a bit in the direction of the waterfall, but then back again... we wanted to go to the alpine pastures.

Today there was only time for a short ride, the Staffn classic was just beautiful.
The clouds were still hanging low in the mountains. Hochgern, Hochplatte and Kampen were not visible.
The Hefter Alm has young pony foals. One that was born today was still very weak.
