Former shepherd's house

Highlight • Historical Site

Very nice, small, former shepherd's house. The house was first mentioned in 1665, the turret was built in the 20th century. Today it is used by the smoking club.

Leerstetten Water Tower

Highlight • Monument

"Good God, we have a big water tower," wrote the author Elisabeth Engelhardt from Leerstetten in her second novel, "A German Village in Bavaria."
As part of the second construction phase, two water towers were to be erected by the companies Holzmann and Brochier, one in Kornburg and the other in Leerstetten.

Construction of this water tower began in October 1962 and was completed and put into operation in September 1963.

In 1975, a pressure boosting system was installed at a cost of DM 76,000 to increase the water pressure in the community, which had meanwhile become more densely populated.

Since July 2016, Schwanstetten has had an interesting and helpful new feature. At the edge of Schwand, heading towards Rednitzhembach, a geodetic reference point was installed at the intersection near the Leerstetten lock by the Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying in Schwabach.

A stone pillar with a metal plate bearing a centimeter-accurate marker in the center has been erected at this location. Simply place your device on the marker and compare the measured coordinates with the target coordinates indicated on the plate.

The coordinates of the Schwanstetten geodetic reference point are:

49° 17.7724 north latitude,

11° 6.8462 east longitude,

339.6 meters above sea level.

Ratibor Castle currently offers three different puzzle tours for children:

- Johann Seeks Toto,

- Georg and Wilhelm,

and a family puzzle related to a special exhibition.

We did "Johann Seeks Toto," and it was really lovely and not at all boring. The children are given a detective kit with helpful tools and a map of the castle. The puzzles are varied and easy to solve. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There's also a reward at the end.

We'll definitely come back and do the other puzzle as well.

The puzzle tour is included in the admission price.

Children up to 10 years old are free, concessions are €1, and adults are €3.

Roth Town Square

Highlight • Settlement

Very nice little old town with market square. The cobblestones in the pedestrian zone are easy to drive - so it's worth driving through the town
