Lago di Ragogna

Highlight • Lake

Lake Ragogna is surrounded by forests and a beautiful pedestrian path. You can go around the lake thanks to a gravel dirt path and well-maintained country roads. The place is very suggestive.

Near Pinzano, the course of the Tagliamento river passes through a narrow passage: this has meant that the place has been home to a ferry since ancient times. Probably, various attempts to build pontoon and wooden bridges followed one another, especially on the occasion of the passage of armies or important personalities, but these constructions were temporary in nature. Today the bridge connects the province of Udine to that of Pordenone.

The Tagliamento is always a beautiful panorama to observe, regardless of where you are, in any case shortly after the bridge (coming from Udine going north) it is possible to go down to the river, via a dirt road on the left, for swimming or freshen up.

Alpini Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

In 1298 the two hermits Dietrico and Lurico were allowed to form a confraternity on the top of Mount Muris, where there was already a church dedicated to San Giovanni. During the First World War the building was destroyed by a cannon shot and reconstruction began only after the Second World War. The new church, consecrated in 1947, was dedicated to the Alpini of the Julia division, and subsequently in 1952 to those of the Gemona battalion, who died in the sinking of the Galilee ship. Destroyed after the 1976 Friuli earthquake, the church was rebuilt maintaining its original thirteenth-century appearance.
A short distance from the church is the hermitage. In 1312 a Lucio from Monte di Ragogna is mentioned in a contract of sale of Bertoldo di Moravia. During the fifteenth century, a brotherhood of hermits was found near the church, which received continuous donations and goods from the community of Ragogna. On the site there is a belvedere from which you can see the hilly area, the Tagliamento river and the surrounding mountains.
