Heuneburg – Town of Pyrene
EUROPE'S MOST IMPORTANT CELTIC ACROPOLIS
SOUTHERN SETTLEMENT AND OUTER FORTIFICATION
Two early Celtic settlements lie on the ridge between the Danube and the Soppenbach Valley. These were built at the end of the 7th century BC, together with the Heuneburg. Station four marks the former site of the so-called southern settlement. On the way towards Heuneburg, the hiking trail leads past the remains of an angular rampart and ditch system, which, with a length of 70 meters, served as additional protection for the main attack side of the Heuneburg.
