Beautiful landscape below the Brocken.

The highest peak in the Harz above the tree line. Certainly not the most exciting climb on a mountain bike, but still a must, simply because it's there. ;-)

November 1, 2024,Brockentour....kurz, knackig im Anstieg, kalt...und wunderschön 😁
Actually, today we were supposed to go somewhere completely different.
But...slept too long early and couldn't get going...😴🙈
So, when hunting for passes, we quickly looked to see what mountains were still reachable in such a short time and were still missing from the list.
There was not much to think about...heading towards Brocken.
I've "conquered" it a few times …

The first Brocken tour was planned for today.
The weather forecast got worse and worse as the week progressed.
Around 7 am I got the message from Wernigerode that it was raining cats and dogs and that the driveway might be closed
Lt. Forecast rain from the weatherman from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Shortly before the driveway to the …

The hottest day of the year so far, just right for a tour on the Brocken. Started from the bike shop I trust at 215 m above sea level, after about 2.5 km it really got down to business and at 500 m and to Schierke it was then leisurely another 100 m. On the remaining 10 km, 550 m …

Spontaneous tour to the Bocken for a sausage on the Brocken

Altogether quite feasible, on a morning around 10 a.m. during the week with little car and motorcycle traffic between Wernigerode and Schierke. Semi-hard ascent to the Brocken, there are a few thick ramps, but overall it is easy to drive on, asphalt in good condition (as of 07/2022).

We began our tour in Drei Annen Hohne in cool temperatures and sunshine. We traveled the first few kilometers along the Glashüttenweg. For the last stretch, we took the Brockenstrasse. We then took this road back to Schierke. After a quick stop at Mr. Drube's pharmacy, we returned to Drei Annen Hohne.

The return trip - I have already described the descent from the Brocken but the rest of the route along the country road is also beautiful and the descent to Wernigerode is a dream. The best asphalt and beautiful curves - we were able to top 60 km/h 🚴
