The Fallen Unconquered Monument

Highlight • Monument

The Monument to the Fallen Undefeated by Gustaw Zemła is located at the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery on Wolska Street in Warsaw. It commemorates the thousands of civilians and Home Army soldiers who died during the Warsaw Uprising. Set on a mound containing approximately 12 tons of human ashes, the monument depicts a dying warrior with a shield, covering a gap in the barricade with his own body. It symbolizes the sacrificial fight of the defenders of the capital. Unveiled on September 20, 1973, it was supplemented in 2001 with insurgent symbols. In 2022, a new cross was erected next to the monument.

Warsaw Spire

Highlight • Monument

Warsaw Spire is an office complex in Warsaw, located in the Wola district, at Plac Europejski 1, 2 and 6. It consists of three buildings: the tallest skyscraper with a height of 180 m (220 m with spires) and two lower buildings with a height of 55 m. The total area of the complex is approximately 100,000 m². It was designed by the Belgian studio M. & J-M. Jaspers – J. Eyers & Partners and opened on May 12, 2016. It is the third tallest skyscraper in Warsaw, right after Varso Tower and the Palace of Culture and Science.

The complex was built on the site of the demolished buildings of the Military Graphic Works, and within its area there is a spacious square with elements of small architecture, greenery, a lake and a cascading stream. The design took into account the protection of nature - the linden trees growing along the street are natural monuments, which influenced the way construction works were carried out. Plac Europejski, where Warsaw Spire is located, was named in 2014.

Warsaw Spire has won numerous awards, including "Outstanding Architectural Project of the Year in Poland" in 2011 and the award for the best office investment at the MIPIM trade fair in Cannes in 2017. The complex was also recognized for the development of the public space of Plac Europejski.

Prosta Street and then Świętokrzyska Street have become an office mecca, or Polish Manhattan :-).
It is worth stopping at Rondo Daszyńskiego to see how amazing this office panorama looks. And if someone hits the Golden Hour when the rays of the setting sun illuminate all the glass... the view does the job!

UN Roundabout

Highlight • Monument

Rondo ONZ is a roundabout in Warsaw, located on the border of the Śródmieście and Wola districts. The roundabout is joined by the following streets: Aleja Jana Pawła II from the north and south, Świętokrzyska Street from the east and Prosta Street from the west. The roundabout is equipped with traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, bicycle crossings and an underground passage integrated with the Rondo ONZ metro station. Trams pass through the roundabout from three directions (except from the east).

The history of the roundabout dates back to the 1960s. The first extension of Świętokrzyska Street took place in 1955, and on December 4, 1963, an extension of Kasprzaka Street (Prosta Street) was pierced, creating a four-way intersection. The roundabout was opened on October 5, 1965, and its name, given in October 1986, commemorates the United Nations. In 2015, the Rondo ONZ metro station was opened under the roundabout.

In the vicinity of the roundabout there are important office buildings, such as the Ilmet, Rondo 1, Skysawa office buildings and several tenement houses from the pre-war period.

Hotel Polonia Palace

Highlight • Historical Site

It is the second oldest hotel in the capital after the Bristol Hotel. Together with the Metropol and MDM hotels, it belongs to the Hotele Warszawskie Syrena company. The Polonia Palace Hotel, one of the oldest in the capital, was inaugurated on July 14, 1913. He invested PLN 1,100,000 in the facility. rubles and then managed it until 1939 - Count Konstanty. Przeździecki. The family had previously managed the European Hotel in Warsaw, built by Aleksander's grandfather. The name was not chosen by accident - Poland was still under partition at that time, so such a strong patriotic accent in the heart of the capital of the Vistula Land served to "warm hearts".

During the war, German officers were stationed in Polonia, and during the Warsaw Uprising the hotel served as a hospital and a supply base for the insurgents and the population of the fighting capital, who used its well-stocked food warehouses.

The hotel has 206 rooms and an English Suite of 115 m². It offers guests Polish and fusion cuisine. There is a fitness club and a massage parlour, eight conference rooms and the "Ludwikowska" ballroom. The interior of the Polonia Palace Hotel can be viewed using the Google Street View application

A beautiful view at night of the Palace of Culture and Science and the glass skyscrapers stretching on Jana Pawła Street from Jerozolimskie to Rondo ONZ (and Emilii Platter). Great view.
