Süddorf - Maintaining the memory of the Edewechter Kleinbahn is important to the members of the Süddorf local association. There is not much of the former tracks left where trains ran from 1912 to 1991. On the route from Bad Zwischenahn to Edewecht, the tracks have largely been dismantled, and cyclists have been riding along the former route since 1994.
But when buildings are demolished on the land where railway facilities once stood, railway memorabilia occasionally comes to light. At the beginning of the railway path in Süddorf, the old warehouse has now been demolished. “Coal and briquettes for the stoves that were used to heat the houses were stored here at the time,” explains Herbert Runge, chairman of the Süddorf local association.
